negation of an institution can be tied into the function of it, creating a bigger form beyond the named institute. the teachers are unknowing martyrs for the on-going art in this place.
before you can warn anyone else about the institution, you have to experience it for yourself. just like every art history document we read has stated, avoid it at all costs.
avoid the art institution because it is just that; an institution. it has set rules and standards and criteria.
the desire to create, the desire we were all born with, is no longer important. it is no longer enough.
for art to continue evolving past its rigid history, you need to negate the institute. the institute’s function of teaching needs to have artists hate it.
because it is fundamentally anti-art, hating the institution is part of the process. a process that has emerged though history, the same way life emerged through chemical reactions. that is, in a self-replication that spins out wilder and bigger forms.
just like everyone else who has survived the institution, i could tell you to avoid it. but i think you should try it. it’ll the best decision and the worst decision of your life.
and when you’ve survived it like i have, when your creativity is beaten out of you, and the desire to express is gone, when you’ve graduated from the institution…
keep making. keep creating. do whatever the fuck you want. use the name of the institution to your advantage, but ignore everything you think you’ve learned.
unless all you’ve learned, like me, is to avoid the institution at all costs.
